THE ESU IN THE WORLD
![]() Since then it has grown into a world wide organisation operating in more than 50 countries creating international understanding through the use of the English language. Today many of its members use English as their second or third language or their language of preferred choice. It was founded by Sir Evelyn Wrench and one of its first Chairmen was Sir Winston Churchill whose own command of English changed the course of history. Today the ESU reaches out to young people world wide from every social background encouraging them to use English well to realise their own potential. ![]() It partners and is supported by many of the world’s most famous companies and it deploys information technology to advance international understanding in every way possible. The ESU continues to expand throughout the globe, providing an ever increasing number of opportunities for people from different cultures to meet and learn about each other's background, beliefs and ideas. Through exchanges, conferences and international debating and public speaking training and competitions, the ESU is creating a network across the world to increase international understanding and global awareness. The ESU at Dartmouth House works in partnership with a network of ESUs worldwide. It has spread to over 50 countries on all five continents. Most recently ESUs have opened in Estonia, Cyprus, Malta, Turkey, Albania. Each ESU has its own calendar of events which range from public speaking and debating competitions to literary events and lectures. ![]() Top HISTORY OF THE ESU BORDEAUX
The ESU Bordeaux is the fourth branch to open in France after Paris, Strasbourg and Anjou. It is an association loi 1901. Our official opening took place in May 2009 and brought together more than 100 people from all over the world. Our objective is to encourage cultural understanding through the use of English. We try to attract members from every background, younger and older people, students, young professionals and retired people. Our group is therefore quite diverse and we try to offer activities within all price range. Top THE ESU BORDEAUX TEAM François BELLY is the President of the ESU Bordeaux. After working in England as an engineer, François decided to come back to France where he now works as a teacher in electronics at Lycée Kastler in Talence. François is married, has two grown-up children. He is very fond of sailing and enjoys solar cars very much. Frédéric DENIAUD is the Vice-President of the ESU Bordeaux. After living in England for 3 years, he made his scolarship in the Lycee International of St Germain en Laye. He now works as a teacher in Physics and Chemistry at Lycée Kastler in Talence. Frédéric is married, has two young children. He is very fond of photography and enjoys computing very much. Sophie CROCI is the Secretary and Treasurer of the ESU Bordeaux. Sophie travelled to many countries in Europe, including the United States and India. She has 2 children. She now works in a private company as a commercial assistant for import/export. She enjoys creative arts and pedestrian walking. Florence CARTIGNY is the Founder of the ESU Bordeaux. She is a young professional in the field of education. She is quite dynamic, speaks several languages and likes travelling and expending her network. After teaching English for 6 years in different companies and post-secondary institutions, she is starting a career in import export. Top |
